Baby Loss Awareness Week...

Increasing Awareness A Ribbon At A Time...

Baby Loss Awareness Week is an opportunity:

For those affected by pregnancy and baby loss and their families and friends to unite with others across the world to commemorate their babies’ lives and lost pregnancies.

To raise awareness about the issues surrounding pregnancy and baby loss and what charities and other supportive organisations are doing to provide support and drive change.

To push for tangible improvements with regard to pregnancy and baby loss; in particular improvements in bereavement care and support, and in reducing the incidence of pregnancy and baby loss.

Getting Involved...

If you are a bereaved parent or family member, a charity or a healthcare professional, there are plenty of ways to get involved...

From getting your street to light up pink & blue, to holding an online Remembrance Event in your  garden, and the global Wave of Light there are lots of ways you can get involved with Baby Loss Awareness Week and help raise awareness safely.

Virtual Events are another great way to bring people together, alongside at home events or activities such as Remembrance Events or community Ribbon Remembrance Displays. You can find more information on events on the links below.

Break the silence!

Pregnancy and baby loss is often a taboo subject. You can help to break the silence around baby loss by talking to your friends, family and colleagues about Baby Loss Awareness Week and by joining the conversation on social media using the hashtag #BLAW wearing a pin badge or lighting a candle on 15th October.

Follow the official BLAW campaign pages on on TwitterFacebook and Instagram  and of course our official Theo's Foundation Pages (if you don’t already!). You can also add #babyloss to your social media posts to link up with other people talking about the issue on social media.

More ways to get involved and spread the word:

Snap a selfie or a photo wearing your pin badge

Share it on social media – remember to add #BLAW #theosfoundation and tag @babyloss and @theosfoundation on your social media platforms.

Use the campaigns specially designed Baby Loss Awareness Week images on your website, blog, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or work intranet.

Show your support on your Twitter, Facebook or Instagram profiles.

Join the global Wave Of Light at 7pm local time on 15th October

Simply light a candle and leave it burning for at least 1 hour to join us in remembering all babies who have left us far too soon. Post a photo of your candle to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #WaveOfLight #BLAW #theosfoundation and tag @theosfoundation and @babyloss

Contact your local media

Use the official template press releases for a Ribbon Remembrance Event or a local building that you have helped turn pink and blue!

Put up the Baby Loss Awareness Week poster

Tell your local community about Baby Loss Awareness Week and any events you are organising. Raising as much awareness as possible! Download it here.

Buy your Baby Loss Awareness ribbon pin badge to support families affected by the death of a baby available by email from us or through the Sands website.

This Baby Loss Awareness Week we need your support to raise awareness that baby death is a tragic issue that affects thousands in the UK alone every year.

We want as many people as possible to wear the badge during Baby Loss Awareness Week 9th to 15th October, and continuing to do so, throughout the year! This will help us to raise awareness of baby loss.

A number of the charities involved in promoting Baby Loss Awareness Week have the awareness pin badge available to buy from their websites. Money raised from sales of the badges will go to the charity you purchase it from, and will be spent on the important work they carry out.

Don’t forget to share your pictures with the pin badge to show your support and help raise awareness one ribbon at a time. Simply post a photo wearing your pin badge on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram using #BLAW #babyloss #theosfoundation hashtags.
